Quebec City, anche oggi mi sorprende e stupisce con un Alba meravigliosa…

Oggi siamo diretti a Nord della città per visitare la riserva urbana di Wendake abitata dagli Huroni Quello che colpisce è l’aspetto del tutto “normale” del posto senza nessun richiamo palese a ciò che nel nostro immaginario è il mondo degli indiani del Nord America: tante classiche casette, una piccola cappella e qualche negozietto di artigianato locale dove poter acquistare acchiappa-sogni realizzati a mano e altri prodotti di finissimo artigianato. Abbiamo visitato con guida Hurone il “Site Traditionelle Huron” che ci ha illustrato come questa tribù non viveva nelle tipiche tende, ma in un’ampia costruzione realizzata in legno sviluppata su più piani e protetta all’esterno da un’altissima palizzata. La Casa Longa era destinata ad accogliere ed ospitare intere famiglie che condividevano così l’area abitativo secondo un sistema gerarchico ben preciso e dove ogni spazio era concepito anche per l’organizzazione delle diverse attività che la comunità svolgeva quotidianamente. Un racconto davvero affascinante ed interessante. Dopo una full immersion nella storia degli Huroni, non poteva certo mancare un altro aspetto da approfondire, ovvero quello culinario mangiando il tipico “pudding “ ma in versione rivisitata e un lungo e gustoso breakfast tea in una location da film. Wendake - Quebec City

Quebec City, today again surprises and amazes me with a wonderful Sunrise…

Today we are headed north of the city to visit the urban reserve of Wendake inhabited by the Hurons What is striking is the completely “normal” appearance of the place without any obvious reference to what in our imagination is the world of the North American Indians: many classic houses, a small chapel and some local craft shops where you can buy hand-made dream catchers and other products of the finest craftsmanship. We visited with a Huron guide the “Site Traditionelle Huron” who showed us how this tribe did not live in typical tents, but in a large wooden building developed on several floors and protected on the outside by a very high palisade. The Casa Longa was intended to welcome and host entire families who shared the living area according to a very precise hierarchical system and where each space was also designed for the organization of the different activities that the community carried out daily. A truly fascinating and interesting story. After a full immersion in the history of the Hurons, another aspect to explore could not be missed, namely the culinary one eating the typical "pudding" but in a revisited version and a long and tasty breakfast tea in a movie location.
