Continuiamo la nostra marcia sulla The Mother Road - Route 66 
, macinando chilometri su questa splendida strada, spesso senza fare una curva per non si sa quanto tempo
, incontrando raramente pompe di benzina uscite da film che al massimo servono caffè e hotdog 
. Arriviamo così a Kingman, sempre in Arizona, il cuore della Route 66 ma non più bella di altre cittadine incontrate. Visitiamo il Powerhouse Visitor Center uno dei musei più completi sulla Route 66 che si trovano sulla Mother Road. Il museo al suo interno ospita, oltre alle immancabili informazioni storiche, molte foto d’epoca, murali e manichini a grandezza naturale che riescono a far rivivere molto bene il clima dell’epoca. Giriamo in lungo e in largo Kingman e come già capitato precedentemente restiamo affascinati dalla cura e dalla conservazione del posto e dei cimeli per strada, rivivendo ciò che era tanto tempo fa
. Pranzo veloce e risaliamo in macchina, attraversando la riserva indiana del Mohave e la Golden Valley (Arizona), desertica per far visita a Oatman, Arizona. Oatman è una segreta e minuscola cittadina intrappolata tra le Black Mountains che svettano sul Mojave Desert, una “ghost town” abitata ancora da un centinaio di abitanti e tanti ma tanti “burros”, asinelli liberi nel paese. poco più di mezzo secolo fa era un’ottima base strategica per i minatori (ci sono ancora un paio di miniere attive) e per i cercatori d’oro
. Davvero piacevole questa mini cittadina e spendiamo più tempo del previsto ma tra asinelli e negozietti in legno sembrava essere stati catapultati nel passato.

We continue our march on The Mother Road - Route 66 , grinding kilometers on this splendid road, often without making a bend for who knows how long, rarely encountering petrol pumps straight out of films that at most serve coffee and hotdogs 🤦 
. Thus we arrive in Kingman, also in Arizona, the heart of Route 66 but no more beautiful than other towns we encountered. We visit the Powerhouse Visitor Center one of the most complete museums on Route 66 located on Mother Road. The museum inside hosts, in addition to the inevitable historical information, many period photos, murals and life-size mannequins which manage to bring the climate of the time to life very well. We wander far and wide into Kingman and as has already happened previously we were fascinated by the care and conservation of the place and the memorabilia on the street, reliving what was a long time ago. Quick lunch and we get back in the car, crossing the Mohave Indian Reservation and the desert Golden Valley (Ariz.) to visit Oatman, Arizona. Oatman is a secret and tiny town trapped in the Black Mountains that tower over the Mojave Desert, a "ghost town" still inhabited by a hundred inhabitants and many, many "burros", donkeys free in the country. just over half a century ago it was an excellent strategic base for miners (there are still a couple of active mines) and gold seekers. This mini town is really pleasant and we spend more time than expected but among the donkeys and wooden shops it seemed like we had been catapulted into the past.
