Day 6
Il nostro sesto giorno a Chicago lo abbiamo dedicato, almeno in parte, alla visita dello Shedd Aquarium. Nelle nostre uscite in grandi città, un po’ ovunque nel mondo, non possono mai mancare tre attrazioni: un Museo Scientifico, un Museo di Storia Naturale ed un Acquario. Spesso inseriamo anche un Planetario (chi sa se anche a Chicago….) Lo Shedd Aquarium è un acquario pubblico di Chicago, aperto dal 1930, contiene oltre 25.000 pesci, ed è stato per qualche tempo il più grande acquario al coperto del mondo. Quattro piani più un “auditorium/vasca” dove avvengono le spiegazioni e le simulazioni con gli addestratori su tre razze acquatiche: leoni marini, balena Beluga e delfini. Noi abbiamo assistito a due di queste e sono state molto belle e ben fatte. L’acquario è molto grande ma davvero ben distribuito e con indicazioni e mappe chiare. Le diverse sale sono una più bella delle altre e si ha la possibilità di entrare (con procedure particolari) a contatto diretto con cuccioli di squalo e con le stelle marine. Anche il settore food è molto ben fornito e diversificato. Nel pomeriggio ci siamo spostati sul Magnificient Mile-N Michigan Ave, zona hotel, per poter fare merenda da Starbucks Reserve Roastery Chicago (alto livello) ed approfittare per una bella passeggiata al “fresco” vedendo diversi negozi. Per la cena non potevamo non approfittare del vicinissimo Gordon Ramsey Burger Chicago per degustare i suoi tipici hamburger. Questi giorni volano immersi nelle mille attività che questa città offre…ma ancora qualche giorno lo abbiamo da spendere…

Day 6
Our sixth day in Chicago was dedicated, at least in part, to visiting the Shedd Aquarium. In our trips to big cities, all over the world, three attractions can never be missed: a Science Museum, a Natural History Museum and an Aquarium. We often also include a Planetarium (who knows if there is one in Chicago too….) The Shedd Aquarium is a public aquarium in Chicago, open since 1930, contains over 25,000 fish, and was for some time the largest indoor aquarium in the world. Four floors plus an “auditorium/tank” where explanations and simulations with trainers take place on three aquatic species: sea lions, Beluga whales and dolphins. We attended two of these and they were very beautiful and well done. The aquarium is very large but really well distributed and with clear indications and maps. The different rooms are each more beautiful than the others and you have the possibility of entering (with special procedures) in direct contact with baby sharks and starfish. The food sector is also very well stocked and diversified. In the afternoon we moved to the Magnificient Mile-N Michigan Ave, hotel area, to have a snack at Starbucks Reserve Roastery Chicago (high level) and take advantage of a nice walk in the "fresco" seeing different shops. For dinner we couldn't miss the nearby Gordon Ramsey Burger Chicago to taste its typical hamburgers. These days fly by immersed in the thousand activities that this city offers... but we still have a few days to spend...
